Group Review: Cafe Belle
On Wednesday March 7th, the Café Belle group started working together on the Coffee Project. Café Belle was a name for their product in which Lizzie, Moriah, Delaney, and Aya created. The group decided to use a poster board and a website to advertise and present their final product. Lizzie and Aya will be focusing on creating the poster board, while Delaney and Moriah will be concentrating on creating and maintaining the blog. Moriah and Delaney have created a logo for the group’s product by drawing a symbolic unicorn, scanning it into the computer, and doing some simple editing. Moriah and Delaney have also picked out a theme for the website and have continued creating it. While Moriah and Delaney were working on the website, Lizzie and Aya have been busy creating the poster board. They first cut the poster board in order to give it windows. Then they cut construction paper carefully placing it on the board giving the poster board a color theme. Lastly, they put the words “Café Belle” at the top of the poster board so viewers can keep note of their name and product.
Siri- Coffee Design Challenge Progress
In the
coffee design challenge, my group has picked out the type of coffee known as
Ethiopian coffee. The group is brewing on a setting of around 18-20. The coffee
has a fruitier taste. So far, the group has come up with the name for our
group, which is “My Blood Type Is Coffee,” the groups logo is vampire lips with
a cup of coffee, and its business catch line is “I’m a sucker for good coffee.”
The title and logo were approved and our poster has a basis done. Our jobs are,
for the most part, sorted out. That is what this group has done so far.
Briaunna, Anthony, Jana, and Kimberly's Design Challenge Group
Last week, the design challenge group with Briaunna,
Anthony, Jana, and Kimberly started working on the design challenge. They made
small progress during their work time. They talked about what they have to
bring to the design challenge from each class. Briaunna is in chemistry and in
English 10. Anthony is in chemistry and English 9. Jana is in chemistry and English 9. And
Kimberly’s in biology, English 10, and 3D art.
They also
laid out the design for the poster that is going to be used for the coffee
fair. Then after they laid out the design for the poster, they showed Mr.
Dewitt the poster design. Then, after they grabbed a poster and painted it
orange, yellow, and blue. And, that’s all they got to that day.
My Blood Type is Coffee
So far "MY Blood Type is Coffee" is brewing Ethiopian at a grind of 18-20. Siri will be showing the iMovie. Emily will be brewing the coffee. Alissa will be writing some type of poetry.
Coffee Group Work
My Design Challenge Coffee Group
went through a few processes on Wednesday. First, we all shared the pieces we
have done in the classes that are connecting to the design challenge- Siri and
Bryden shared their iMovies from Environmental Science, I shared the blog from
my English 10 c lass, and Alissa shared the sonnets she wrote in English 9. We
gathered what we were going to share with our booth, which we named “My Blood
type is Coffee.” We also came up with a theme for the booth and solidified our brewing
process, and assigned jobs and who was going to represent what. I- Emily- am
going to brew the coffee and talk about the chemistry components, and also work
with talking about the blogging components. Siri is going to share her iMovie
that she made in Environmental Science, and Bradlee and Bryden are going to
share the biology components. Alissa will also be sharing her sonnets that she
wrote in English 9. And we are going to bring all of these components together
into one big presentation for the design challenge.
Coffee Review
Misha, Matthew, Yvonne and Pam got nearly all of their tasks done. After planning out what they were going to do, they had to be approved by Mr. Dewitt. He approved their ideas and the group quickly began their project. The title for their project is "Bean Around The World". The title is in handwritten cursive. Instead of using the posters provided, Misha decided to buy a brand new tri-fold poster and began taping down the information. The poster's background is white but information is mounded on orange construction paper. There will be some color on the poster but mostly black and white.
Until they meet again on Wednesday, they are nearly 100% done and ready to present.
Until they meet again on Wednesday, they are nearly 100% done and ready to present.
For the Design Challenge, The MT+C has completed only a few things, but are on the way to completion. In the group we completed our poster, and figure out what types of coffee we were going to sell to the customers; Kenya and Ethiopia. The customers will sample both of the types of coffee, then they will be able to chose what types of coffee they want.

Review of Design
Challenge for Blog
The design challenge group work last Wednesday went well.
The group worked on the drawing of what the poster was going to have. The
information going to be given to consumers. The name of the group was
brainstormed also the slogan type and what the slogan is going to say were
brainstormed as well. Contact information was distributed and used to contact
each other.
Coffee Reviews
On Wednesday, March 7th, the coffee group worked on the coffee design challenge. In this time, the group established the slogan and the poster design. Everyone tried to make it as creative as possible. The group then researched what language Ethiopians speak and since the language was close to Arabic, they used the Arabic language and translated it into the groups coffee slogan. Since everyone did not get very far with everything, they still need to design the coffee stand and make it very inviting to all of the guests. Ivonne Garcia and Katie Antonyuk will be running most of the coffee stand and talking to the people and selling coffe. Katie Antonyuk will be making the coffee while Tyrik and Alona will talk about their separate projects.
The group did amazing. Sophia, Abbey, Tara and Jordan are
really, really working well together. The groups name is “A Whole Latte Love”. The
group will be wearing matching outfits black skirts with a white top and red
aprons and curled hair. The group will have free red velvet cupcakes for every
customer who buys coffee. The will also have sitting arrangement for customers
who bought their coffee. There will also be mood lighting to make the coffee
stand seem cozier. Then there will be a lot of coffee options chocolate, caramel,
white chocolate, French vanilla, hazelnut and raspberry. There will also be
cream and sugar provided. Jordan and Tara were assigned to make the aprons and
the aprons are completed. Abbey will be making the treats for the stand. Tara
will make the sign and set up the poster board that displays all of the information
about the group. Jordan will be brewing the coffee. Supplying the coffee cups
and coffee sleeves. That is what a whole latte love is doing.

Review for coffee
blog
The coffee log itself is not going
anywhere The group barely had any of
the necessary information about the coffee project or about the process of
making the coffee. In the design challege
group itself not much of anything was done The group ws supposed to review and
arrange the content that the other people put on, but since people never put
anything on the blog, then the group had nothing to do. The group was supposed to be the “overlooker”
group. The job was specifcally to put
the other people posts in an order that mkes logical sense and is visually
appealing
The job itself is not difficult, ranging specific pictures and text, is so easy it border on tedious. The only difficult pat is to coerce the other
membes to actually pot things on the blog.
One the group can finally accomplish that task, it will be all coast from ther.
Group Review
Erica, Anna, and Miranda met up and immediately began
working when we sat down in Ms. Walker’s room. Amber, the senior, was absent
but as a senior she is probably very busy. The group met and started planning
what information should go on it and what poster they will use. They planned it
out on a piece of paper and got a trifold. The poster was very white and
boring, so they painted it. Erica had the idea to splatter paint it, so they
went outside and splatter painted. They are currently making plans to meet
before school this week and put stuff on the poster.
So far, the group is in a good place. They have little left
to do and they are feeling ready!!
Group Update!
My Coffee Design Challenge group decided last week that we
were going to use a trifold board for the set up of our ‘Coffee Shop’, and have
an image of a coffee cup and on the saucer say “bean around the world”. We
decided we are going to use Ugandan coffee, and brew it like my chemistry group
brewed in our chemistry class. Having 2 out of 4 people in our group who are
quite, we have to work out how to make our booth be visited by people.

Anna, Josh, Devon group
I think my group is pretty awesome, we have done pretty much everything we've needed to. Despite the fact that I don't sit with them, I trust them to get stuff done. GOOD JOB GROUP.
My coffee design group is doing fairly well. We have split the things we need to do into jobs. My job is as a English and chemistry student to do the blog and brew the coffee at the fair. Jonathan’s job is to create and organize our poster. Lawson’s job is to come up with a catchy pitch. And Federico’s job is to learn about our coffee’s origin and be able to inform our customer’s about it.
Java Update- Coffee Group
The group Java Update is doing well in getting everything ready for their "coffee shop" this coming Friday. They have all the information complied and ready to go on their poster. They have a great plan to draw people in to try their coffee. Not only do they have great coffee, they have some cool stuff in store for anyone who visits their booth! They're really looking forward to showing everyone what they've been working on and they hope anyone who comes by will enjoy it too.

Metro's Coffee Design Challenge
Here at Metro we strive to integrate every class we take into our projects. Each of the grade levels at Metro has a part in this challenge; freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and even a few seniors. In this design challenge we are exploring different kinds of coffee, where the coffee came from, and fair versus unfair trade. As a school, we are preparing for a coffee open house by learning how to brew coffee, creating and maintaining blogs, writing and presenting poetry, and much more. We hope you enjoy following our journey through this design challenge and viewing our final product at our coffee open house.
Coffee Poem.
Bean Peace
A poem by Drew K.
"A mystery wrapped in brown,
A fragile enigma,
Enveloping the senses,
With the earthy steam
Of a bean.
A fragile enigma,
Enveloping the senses,
With the earthy steam
Of a bean.
The mind wrapped in warmth,
The essence of dark roast,
Heating from within,
The senses thrill,
With every lingering
Sniff of the aroma
In the mug."
The essence of dark roast,
Heating from within,
The senses thrill,
With every lingering
Sniff of the aroma
In the mug."
